Liling & Jibraan’s Dream Destination Wedding
Despite never having visited Cape Town prior to their wedding planning, Liling and Jibraan (Jib) knew exactly what they wanted. The couple, based in Singapore and the United Kingdom respectively, were inspired by the luscious landscape of Cape Town, based only on what they’d seen online and heard from those in the know.
Their wedding was an occasion to bring all their friends and family together, on one continent, flying in from all four corners of the globe, including Asia, Britain, North America, United Arab Emirates – a true melting pot of cultures.
The idea of Cape Town was inspired after the couple got engaged in Jackson Hole, Wyoming (www.travelwyoming.com/cities/jackson ). They fell in love with the backdrop of the valleys and mountains, but felt the U.S. was too far for most guests to travel to.
Jib suggested looking into Cape Town as a destination wedding as they had heard the food and wine is out of this world, which was really important to these two “foodies”.
Fast forward to contacting The Aleit Group… This was set to be one of the most intricate wedding “productions” we have planned to date, but the results were astonishing!
Restaurateur, Liling and Financier fiancé, Jib, wanted to create an experience no-one would ever forget. From the large scale production, to custom-built props, to their internationally acclaimed DJ; no expense was spared.
The Big Day Has Come
As guests arrived from their respective destinations, they were immediately taken by the unprecedented hospitality of the Western Cape. They “eased” into proceedings with a welcome cocktail function, held on Friday, 21 April at the renowned restaurant, Overture, located on Hidden Valley wine estate, in Stellenbosch.
Being the first occasion guests would get to know each other, the couple wanted a relaxed environment. Guests were treated to a culinary feast, prepared by one of South Africa’s most acclaimed Executive Chefs, Bertus Basson.
The variety of canapés included wasabi mousse tomato tarts, smoked gemsbok and macadamia nut croutes, fried squid cones and mustard aioli. Bowl food included; lamb tomato bredie risotto, fried capers, matured sirloin, mushroom and heirloom carrots, fresh fish, gnocchi and braised octopus, Miso glazed aubergine, kale, cauliflower, sesame dressing, crisp pork belly, to name a few…
No one went to bed hungry!
The ceremony was to be held the next day, at Molenvliet… The ceremony space was transformed into a memorizing, ethereal homage of eternal love. As the gorgeous bride walked down the raised white high-gloss aisle, in her Carolina Herrera masterpiece, she took our breath away.
Walking to the sweets sounds of the string quartet, she joined her partner, Jib, standing at our most glorious arch yet, standing a sheer 4m x 6m, adorned with heavenly floral arrangements. Now two become one…
After the emotional nuptials, guests proceeded to the rooftop lawn area through the charming vineyards, for pre-dinner drinks and canapés from the fresh, luscious Harvest Table.
Moving onto the reception, guests were ushered through a whimsical “forest”, lit up with hundreds of fairy lights and chandeliers, where the reception setting was revealed, in all its glory. The room can only be described as mind-blowing, with its enchanted forest inspiration creating a whimsical, magical, flight of fantasy! The bride’s dream, brought to life!
The After Party
As if that wasn’t enough, after enjoying their lavish four-course dinner, guests were then transported to the after-party at the nearby estate, Boschendal, where the venue was converted into a tropical paradise nightclub, which could have been anywhere in the world – Miami or Ibiza – and is if that wasn’t enough, renowned international DJ Claptone stepped up to the decks and blew friends & family away!
Of course no party is complete without a bit of “selfie love”, and for that the couple had two custom-built photo booths set up, inspired by, VOGUE magazine’s recent Met Gala Photo Booth, in which guests could snap the night away in a truly unique backdrop.
The three-day celebration was superbly ended-off with a relaxing day on the lawns at Boschendal. Donned in white, guests were treated to an exceptional brunch and some games to relax and unwind. The perfect way to end an amazing destination wedding!
Both the bride and groom were flabbergasted with the end result; their dream destination wedding was a huge success! Bride Liling leaves us in awe with her kind words.
